Cinematography was appealing and some moments of intense acting, but overall too slow and not compelling enough to create an investment of the audience into the characters or story line. I have read the book, and watched previous movie versions, so my expectations for something "new" may have been to high.
My 70 year old mother, and teenage children went to see it with me and the consensus was that none of us were really enthralled with the movie, but not completely disappointed either.
