John Carter - good fun

Everyone already knows nobody lives on Mars - so the argument that we have to discount this story written a hundred years ago before we knew that is bunk.
We don't know that the Star Wars planets sustain life either and we all enjoyed that series.
This movie is just plain fun - you can imagine yourself on the moon or Mars jumping great distances in low gravity - we all did at some time (remember Moon Shoes with springs in the 70's) in our lives.
The effects are well done and the war line simple for kids under 10 to follow (blue team is good guys - red team is bad guys - green team saves blue team). I think this movie is OK for kids about 8 and up.
I see news reports that this will be a financial failure - but that isn't the movie's fault - the marketing was an afterthought and they probably could have saved some money on some of the war scenes to keep costs down, but it was worth my ticket price.
I hope this movie picks up more of a following because I would like to see more of the series adventures in the future.
