The movie itself, the story, the premise is what drew me in.
I was not, however, expecting the shaking camera aspect of it that wasn't apparent in the trailer that I saw.
I felt the convention of the camera to be contrived and somewhat forced, and as a result, there were some key moments that were glossed over as the filmmakers made sure that the audience knew that all of this was caught on tape.
At the end of the movie, the group of eight people I was with all felt that while the story was engaging, and that we totally suspended our disbelief to allow the fantastical events to unfold, the camera aspect left us feeling as though something was missing in an effort to fit within a specific type of genre.
A word of caution to anyone who sees this movie...if you are prone to motion sickness, sit further back from the screen. We were in the middle, and still took about a half an hour to feel like were on solid ground after all of the moving of the camera.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the movie overall...I just wish more time had been spent on developing the characters and story rather than shaking the camera.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
