A vehicle for Jayden, Will's character could've been anyone and his participation was misinformed by the preview. The fact that it doesn't indicate Shyamalan as director means it was protecting something.
That said, it's a good father-son controversy piece, with philosophical depth, and great special effects. It's a bit slow, but feels slower because of the expectations. I think kids and their parents may like it more than teens and movie buffs. I wish Shyamalan could find his groove again.
I thought that Dark Knigt was the best Batman movie, but now it becomes the chapter with the best Joker ever. This chapter is just spectacular, and it's the story; the wise advice and wishes of the elders, the hard decisions and sacrifice of the heroes, and the reverberating voice of an evil enforcer that penetrates your brain (you need a theater with good sound to feel this).
I was doubtful of Hathaway's Catwoman, but her looks and style fit Nolan's take for the story; and it works, you'll see.
From beggining to the last second, you can't miss dialog or scene. So you better get in fresh, eaten, and with an empty bladder. It's one of the best, almost 3 hour, movie experiences, which you may want to see again.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Cons little mistakes

The fast action doesn't forget about the human side of the characters; the movie has a heart. Picks on stuff from the previous movies, while introducing new elements to the rather lonely and anxious hero. And a hero he is, as the surprising final minutes let us know the sacrifices that really matter.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Improves on the original...

The high impact of the original movie is preserved and only some "historical" points are altered, but not in a catastrophical way. The young actress doesn't look as strange as Rapace, but suceeds in transmiting the painful, independent, and protective nature of the character. The improvement is apparent in the faster pace and up-to-date tech of the movie; removing the lethargic spaces of the swedish version, makes for a more enjoyable experience.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not better than the first...

The general look of our heroes is...older, even though the story happens a few months from the first movie. Maybe this is because the film looks sharper; where the first had a more antique feel, this one feels rustic. Also, it has a faster pace, maybe too fast. Of course, that's not enough for a 4. Dissapointingly, a dear character is lost at the very beggining, and in a rather bland way. Then, a very interesting character is lost at the end. The movie is good, but unless these characters are recovered in some Sherloesque way, the renaissance of the classic detective may loose the allure.
