I like Guy Ritchie's films, they have a natural grittiness, real world seediness about them. The first Sherlock Holmes movie I kinda liked, it was very stylized and slick for an adventure film. The "Game of Shadows" film has a lot of that too. But we're kind of rushed into the story and felt 'dragged' up to a point and then just dropped into a dead spot which meandered and then the ride started up again and we were rushed through to the ending. Like I said, I kinda liked the first one and I kinda liked this one too!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I have seen the original film, and I thought it to be well told, acted and produced. David Fincher's redux of the first installment of the trilogy is a great version of this movie. Not to put the accolades completely in the hands of Fincher's, but everyone from cast, production, crew, editing, even to the amazing soundtrack from Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. Daniel Craig plays Blomkvist well enough to calm the audience into seeing that he's not just another "Bond" actor. The international supporting cast from Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skaarsgard, Joely Richardson and even Robin Wright shore up the walls of this finely weaved tapestry of intrigue. And then there's Mara Rooney as 'Lisbeth'...where to start? Wow, the transformation from typical vapid blonde Hollywood actress to portraying the dark, physically abused and sometime morally upstanding ( the scene with her case worker ). Takes her a step away from "good girl" roles and let's her really develop some fine acting chops!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

For director Brad Bird making his live-action film directing debut...Wow! Great action, well-paced movie from start to finish. And it's nice to see Tom Cruise for once not make the film all about him. He's got a great supporting that deserve every bit as much screen time as Cruise. This is by far my favorite of the four, which I rank 4,3,2 & 1 now.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
