Like a lot of movies, they showed all the best parts in the trailers. Not much else to look firward to. I took my 3 and a half year old and this was his first movie. He liked it but said he was scared at times. I thought there were a lot of unnecessarily negative themes and sensationalized effects for a G rated movie. I avoided other movies due to PG ratings and was surprised at some of what I saw. For example, in one scene Dave is hanging for his life over a canyon and another adult character is trying to decide if she is going to kill him or let him live. In my opinion, this is not appropriate for small children, who may be freaked out by a person who is not willing to help somone else in distress and is even contemplating killing the dad if the chipmunks. We need more positivity in children's movies. We don't always need a villan and over-the-top special effects (volcano blowing up and raining exploding fireballs... really?) to hold our kids attention.
