Great Ghost Story

If you like old fashioned scary movies this one is for you. It is a pure ghost story in gothic style with all necessary elements for a convincing haunting. Dark, gloomy "Wuthering Heights" style atmosphere is complete with an old mansion, storms, brooding townfolk. Certain scenes made us jump as we fought the urge to cover our eyes too. There are often very chilling moments just from simple touches...no fancy special effects, so all the more realistic and frightening. Daniel Radcliffe is very believeable in his role as Arthur and so well done you will not think about "Harry" once during this movie.
So if you believe in ghosts see this movie, and if you don't see it anyway as you may change your mind afterward. Please leave younger children at home. Not very restful sleep for any of us since movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not To Be Missed

Went to see this with my adult daughter and we both enjoyed it so much. It is a rare movie indeed where the entire cast gives superb acting performances..but this is one for sure. George Clooney's portrayal of a man in the midst of turmoil (watch his face for non-verbals), is just amazing and the scene where his oldest daughter goes underwater in pool, is heart wrenching. This is truly a story that shows all sides of human nature; good, bad and ugly, as well as the beauty of love and forgiveness. You will both smile and cry. Actual HNL and Kauai locations and beautiful HI music just make this movie all the more wonderful. Stay through credits for music/great slack key guitar.. This is an adult movie to enjoy..don't miss it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

MUPPET HAPPINESS

Singing, dancing, romance, drama, celebrities, abound in this delightful movie. Jim Henson is surely smiling right now.
For those of us in our family who grew up with these wonderful characters it was like having a fun visit with some dear friends. It was very special to see our daughter, who adored the Muppets as a child have a great time watching this film. But the Muppet magic was also evident seeing her 13 year old high-tech/Xbox fanatic son laugh out loud the entire time. The songs were terrific, with our family's favorites "Life's A Happy Song", and "Man or Muppet". "Rainbow Connection" also touched my memory and heart bringing on some tears.
This is the perfect family film to start off the holiday season. Kindness, love, friendship, family are forever, so will be the Muppets. I believe there is not only some man in the Muppets, but hopefully a little Muppet in all of us.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Hold On To Your Heart

As someone who has read all the books and seen every movie (many times) I wanted the time to say good-bye to be memorable. First on line from 07:30 (07/14) on hot hot TX day for 12:01 show. Worth every minute of the wait. Laughed, cried and held my breath entire length of movie. Action scenes great but the ones that stay with me are the heart wrenching ones full of emotion. Many life lessons here about life, love, friendship, courage.Be ready with tissues for scene with Severius and Harry watching his memory. Special hooray to Neville! The last Hogwarts scene with the three teens standing together is beautiful.Look carefully at Ron and Hermione's faces for true emotion vs. acting. It brought to mind the first time many years ago they first met, and how we have watched them mature. Bittersweet good-bye to our dear friends. See this final film, you will not be dissapointed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not To Be Missed

Inception is one of those movies that stays with you long after you leave the theater. From the very first scene we were drawn in to this incredible story. The premise is unique, intelligent and enhanced by fast paced dialog, superb acting and amazing special effects. The entire theatre was completely silent until the very last scene, and as the credits rolled, many remained seated.. "thinking". Finish your popcorn, drinks, bathroom breaks before movie starts, then watch and listen very carefully, open your mind and step into the realm of Inception.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fun Filled Fantasy

Fantasy, action, great special effects, humor, romance make this movie fun for everyone. As usual, Nick Cage is special, and very believable as a master sorcerer. Alfred Molina does another wonderful job as the "bad guy". Watching is like being on a wild ride..especially during car chase sequence. Use of familiar Manhattan landmarks and terrific scene that pays homage to Fantasia & Mickey's sorcerer, so much fun to see in live action. Sit back and enjoy.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Very Enjoyable Family Movie

Smart, witty and fun for entire family. Lots of non-stop action, but also a lot of "heart" too from Gru's childhood dream to orphan's finding a Dad. The minions are so adorable, you will just love them. Lots of "oohs" and "aahs" and much adult laughter heard from packed theatre throughout movie.
Hint to adults: watch for scene with reference to famous Italian family movie of 70's. Hilarious!
As with all movies, never leave before credits, as always extra surprises.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Best So far

Eclipse much better than first two movies. Overall improvement in acting for all. Good action and liked the vampire and wolf "flashback" stories. Best acting to Dakota Fanning even though short screen time. Only negatives: did not like the new Victoria and entirely two many facial close-ups (as with all Twilight movies). Otherwise, beautiful shots of location. See this one and enjoy.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Have seen this wonderful movie twice so far..plan on more! Toy Story 3 has everything, humor, suspense, and most of all..heart. Both times we saw movie, our theater was filled with people of all ages, and we all smiled, laughed and many of us cried, ( you know why). Woody and the gang remind us all about family, love and friendship.
Go and enjoy with your extended family, loved one, or alone. You will not be dissapointed. This movie is a gift from Pixar .

Weird Version Of Classic
PostedNovember 28, 2009

As someone who loves this Dickens tale and has seen almost every version, I found this to be a dark, very weird interpretation of a beautiful Christmas story. All the characters were scary looking, with extremely large heads and ugly facial features. The Christmas spirits were even worse, especially Christmas Present., when he grew older and shrunk to nothing. It was awful for us to see...but terrible for our kids ages 11 and 9 years.
Save your money and rent or buy the classic A. Sim"s film, Muppet Christmas Carol, Scrooge (musical with Albert Finney) or any other adaptation and experience the magic of Dickens. If you do go, please leave the kids at home.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
