Let me start off by saying "WOW!" Such an awesome movie. I am a huge Superman fan, so much so that I was given the nickname of Superman, I have shelves covered with Superman memorabilia, and I even have a Superman logo tattoo on my arm. I think this movie did justice to the name Superman. It is an excellent reboot. It made me feel the way I did after seeing Batman Begins, or The Amazing Spider-man. The director, Zack Snyder, definitely had a unique approach to telling the story of Superman's origin. The first 35 minutes of the film was all action on Krypton. Russell Crow made Marlon Brando look like a weakling. Tons of CG to make Krypton come to life. After coming to earth and crashing, all of a sudden we are with Clark on a fishing boat. His childhood is told with flashbacks throughout the movie. Most Superman movies and series start with Clark as a child and work their way up. First thing he does is meets Lois. He comes right out "I'm a super special person not from around here." Then Zod shows up and Superman has to stop his army. Lots of fighting, crashing through buildings, throwing cars and right before the credits "This is Clark Kent, he will be working here at the Daily Planet." So yes, the whole story of Superman is told differently than normal, and that's what I liked about it. There was even a reference to Lexcorp. What I didn't like was how Jonathon Kent died, he died protecting Clark over a stupid thing, and not from a heart attack like he did in everything else. Not a speck of green rock showed up in the film either, weird. Henry Cavill gets 2 thumbs up from me for his portrayal of the man in the blue tights. Are they tights? I don't know what he was wearing, but it looks an awful lot like what Spider-man wore in his last movie. And the good thing about it is everyone from his planet wears suits like it so he isn't an outcast for his wardrobe. It was rated PG-13, I'm guessing for the exaggerated violence. There were no adult scenes and no swear words as I recall. I do not however think kids will be as intrigued by the movie as teens would be.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, awesomeness
