Edgerton didn't bring enough of Buchanan's dark side to make the contrast at the end that Gatsby's aloofness was due to him being a better man than to lower himself to their level. More dialoge about his disdain for Gatsby because he knew in his heart of hearts that Daisy loved Gatsby and not him; would have been one way to better develop that idea.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
