I don't go into the PA franchise looking for anything spectacular and a with a tabloid mindset, knowing I shouldn't be so interested but can't stop myself from buying into it. After PA 3, the best of all of them so far, I was hoping for some closure/detail/explanation to the mystery involving the witch covenant/cult and our good old friend and demonic spirit, "Toby," All it did was add more to it.
Katie comes back into this one, which is not necessary. Her, and her whole act is more comical than scary, even when adding very poorly done CG effects to her face. The movie itself is a buildup to what I thought was going to be a frightening conclusion but I cracked up laughing at the end. So by now either I'm desensitized to this kind of stuff, or it was just that bad. It was a lot of regurgitated stuff like bodies dragged across floors, covers pulled off beds, stuff dropping from the ceiling, and one member of the family not believing any of it. The best part about the movie was the comic relief from "Ben," the lead character's boyfriend. Overall, the acting wasn't bad. Both kids played their parts well.
Don't waste your money at the theater for this one. It's a good Redbox movie.
Pros good sound effects, good comic relief
Cons slow, horrible conclusion
No, I do not recommend this movie.
