Maybe it's because I saw the original, but I don't think this prequel was very suspenseful. They kinda give away a lot too quickly, and then don't explain certain things as well as the original did. The tie to the beginning of Carpenter's film that was shown during the credits was very good.
The "Thing" itself looked incredible, and its appearance rung true to the original. It was disturbing to watch, but in a very entertaining way!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
