I was worried seeing that they were splitting this small book into three films that it was going to be slow and ponderous but nope, full of action. I love how they integrated more of the history and lore of Middle Earth into the story. After seeing The Hobbit I am now wishing that they could have extended the Lord of the Rings series even more.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

First off, let me say that as I left the theater I was very aware of what I touched and who I came in contact with...visiting the restroom was a little creepy (especially as I heard someone cough right when I walked in).
The movie itself was well acted and, for the most part, the science seemed accurate and well thought out - sadly somewhat unusual in movies. What I didn't like was how linear the plot was. Yes, having what seemed like an important character die in the midst of everything was unusual, making you understand how indiscriminate such a disease can be and just how dangerous an epidemic like this can be. This was also more subtlely pointed out in the subtitles of the city names along with their populations.
There were, unfortunately, no real obstacles in the film that caused any tension in the plot to make the viewer feel more invested in the characters. The only antagonist seemed to be the Jude Law character but as I kept waiting for him to interact with the main characters somehow or have them comment on his activities, that story line just sort of petered out.
Not a bad film, just not what I had hoped in a thriller-type movie.
