Is this movie offensive to everyone? Basically. Is this movie entertaining? Very. Honestly, I don't get offended at all really, except for my faith/religion, and it only bothered me a little bit in this movie. I saw this in an empty theater, which was a good thing as I recall. Some scenes in this movie make you laugh so hard that if the theater was full, I wouldn't have heard the beginning of the next scene whatsoever. The stereotypes of each character/actor are very funny, but sometimes annoying. This isn't your cliche/normal comedy either, because it actually has an unpredictable plot and progressive story line. I was surprised by a lot of things in this movie. Some things were dumb, but I came out of the theater feeling, in an odd sense, somewhat satisfied. The critics had liked it, and it did turn out to be a good movie. I, especially, loved all of the references and parodies of and to other movies. This Is The End is and will probably the best comedy of this summer.
Pros well paced, great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

However, it was a enjoyable, action-packed time at the theater. I just thought that there was something missing for it to be a memorable, amazing super hero movie. I did find it, simply, generic and cliche. One of the things I feel was missing was good humor, because, although, you don't need humor if the tone is right, but I felt like the tone of this wasn't that dark and it almost felt light, therefore, it needed humor. Did it have humor? Yes, but I didn't laugh and I thought the majority of the "jokes" have already been done before and didn't fit in. The actors did a good job, especially, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe. I just feel like the script , in dialogue, was very weak sometimes. I never truly hated the villain, General Zod, which is essential for a villain. I never really got a sense of true darkness from his character, which sounds weird, but it's true. An example is, obviously, Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight. I like Michael Shannon, too. I'm just rambling, and picking every little thing that bothered me. In my reviews, I usually find everything I dislike about, so don't get mad at me. The visual effects were very good. It was a little slow, to me, in the beginning, I don't know why. I guess I was never, particularly, interested from the start. However, after all of those rants, I think I would give it a 7 out of 10, because it was still enjoyable.
Pros great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Don't get me wrong, I did like it. I just had a few gripes with it. I don't even know, random, stupid things. For example, I loved the story, and thought that it was written excellently, but I didn't like the dialogue, for some reason. I thought when the script tried to be funny, it was completely unoriginal and not funny. The acting was good. I thought the script wasn't really an actor's movie, although the many different, great actors. Great twists and turns. Overall, is it worth it? Yeah. Is it worth the seven bucks? Yeah, I would say so, it was a better than average movie. I wasn't a fan of the cinematography/directing so much, it just seemed like the whole time it was panning shots. I don't mean to bring up all of my complaints. It was a good movie, and the ending was pretty darn good. A casual movie-watcher will love it.
Pros great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I'm going to be honest, the only other fast and furious movie I recall seeing is Fast Five. That one was a good action flick, and I heard it was an improvement from the previous one. I could say the same thing about this one, and I think I will, although I did see Fast Five awhile ago. Unrealistic and unbelievable are two adjectives that can not be in your vocabulary as you watch this movie. It is full of unforgettable action sequences, witty one-liners, and exceptional chemistry. Six movies as their character, the actors have gotten their roles down. But you can't nitpick with all of the excusable flaws; acting, dialogue, and incredulity. This is a superb, mind-blowing action flick that decides to stay that way. It is not a comedy or a drama or a tragedy. It is its own genre, fast and furious. Fans of this series will love it and get a kick out of it. Movie-lovers will enjoy it, action-lovers will adore it, and people who aren't too fond of action movies will find something to like about it.
Pros well paced, great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Wow, cheesy review title, great start. Give me a break it is 2:30 AM. If you love Star Trek, you will love it. If you didn't like the first movie, you may like this one. If you don't like action-adventure movies, you won't like this. I gave a 5 star rating to Iron Man 3, and I liked Star Trek 2 more than that. J.J. Abrams is a perfect fit for Star Trek, I think, and now for Star Wars too. He gives an energized enthusiasm to the making, tone, and mood of this series. The ending scenes were brilliantly made, and it can be lighthearted at times too. It is audacious and very action packed. The makeup and art direction were fabulous once again. If you even remotely liked the first one I would light the darkness and watch this one. Although you may like the first one better still I thoroughly enjoyed this one. (My friends were debating which one they loved more) I think I liked this one more, although I am undecided. They are quite different, but nothing completely objectionable. I liked the changes. It was a fun time. I was immersed into darkness, but the light shone through.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I adore the book. So, I guess the thing I was looking for the most was to have this movie bring justice to the book. Did it? No, not really. Did it emphasize the greatness of the book? Yes it did, kind of. The direction of this movie is very fast paced and quick edits, which I don't think it was supposed to be, other than the parties. F. Scott Fitzgerald's great novel had so many great symbols and metaphors that I think the movie emphasized, which was good. The movie also remained faithful to the book through the dialogue and the majority of the story, which was also good. However, the movie, I feel, did not achieve the tone or mood of the book that Fitzgerald crafted. The rap music and soundtrack did not fit at all. Leo was a perfect Gatsby, however, his performance is great as always. The art direction was good, when there was one. There were a lot of green screens and the characters seemed out of place most of the time. I also felt that it was very modernized and made from Hollywood, and I think that this book needed to be an artsy film to accomplish what the book did. It's almost like they tried to make an action film with no action, which doesn't make any sense. I would preferred a slower paced Gatsby if it would enhance the book. I was just disappointed because there still isn't a movie to brag on for the book. Book lovers will probably be disappointed. If you haven't read the book you might enjoy more because of the story that Fitzgerald crafted. If you don't see it, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend, I encourage to read the masterpiece that Fitzgerald made. There are great symbols and themes in it that I'm not sure a movie will ever capture, at least a movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
Pros leo was a great gatsby
Cons no justice for book
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Mud is the second indie movie I have seen in theaters this year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed and liked both of them so far. I saw The Place Beyond the Pines a couple of weeks ago and liked it a ton. Now, this has a very different mood and tone to it than TPBTP, but they are both superb films. But they both deal with deeper themes and symbols than just your cheesy romantic film or your eye pleasing action movies. Mud deals with children in a mature way. You care for the main characters, two fourteen-year olds named, Ellis and Neckbone, and think to yourself that "that was unfair." And you root for the main characters which reverse your moral discernment of right and wrong, and you realize that what these kids are doing is wrong and they need to do the right thing and grow up a bit. Mud is played by the great Matthew McConaughey, who is good as always, and really brings Mud to life and emphasizes what this movie is really about, moving on. Which is the result from wonderful film making by the, ambitious and aspiring, Jeff Nichols, a cohesive and taut script from the same man, and amazing performances by Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, and the supporting cast. The surprising performance came from the young Tye Sheridan. I really ended up liking his character, and his performance. Where as, a lot of kids even adolescents in movies can be quite obnoxiousness. Mr. Sheridan's performance was exceptional. Look out for him in the future, Tye Sheridan. I want to see the other two films by Jeff Nichols and I will be anticipating his future films as a result of watching this great film. It does have its flaws, as all movies do, but it is such a great film that I think most people can and will enjoy. I suggest this movie highly. The language is the only substantial thing to its rating other than a few fights that Ellis participates in. I was very satisfied with the end of this movie, it shows that life moves on.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Iron Man 3 brings humor and humanity to the slate in the third installment of the Iron Man franchise (not including The Avengers). The visual effects are delightful(nothing groundbreaking), the acting is satisfactory, and as for the story, I found it very intriguing and found it very renewing and freshening for the Marvel movies and Iron Man movies. I didn't have any problems with the story and the direction that Shane Black took. The dialogue was more witty and humorous than the other two, and possibly even The Avengers. If you enjoy Marvel movies and/or comic book/superhero movies you will love Iron Man 3. Robert Downey Jr. is good as always as his Iron Man character. I enjoyed this one more than the second one and the first one was just as good (even though they are very different). Good superhero/comic book movie. Good Marvel movie. Good beginning of summer of movie. If you like Marvel movies, you will love it. Fairly good pacing and run time. Iron Man 3 delivers.
Pros well paced
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I liked it. Now I can't say it was the best movie of 2013, or even April but there were some good things about this movie. The directing I thought was well done. The atmosphere and special effects were astounding. It started out very slow and then towards the end it sped up very quickly. So the pace was kind of off, but I know that they probably meant for it to be like that because of the plot line that I won't spoil. Tom Cruise was good. Now there are some problems with it that may be ambiguous as you are watching. When you reflect you may come to the conclusion that some plot points are hackneyed, and the dialogue isn't superbly constructed, but it doesn't really matter. There is some nudity(no frontal nudity),an f word, and some violence that isn't even worth mentioning. But overall, as I got home after watching this I did some research about some of the references the movie made which I thought was respectable addition. It was a little confusing, but overall it was an enjoyable sci-fi audacious film.
Pros great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Today is officially Jackie Robinson today where every player in the MLB wears the number "42" because of the legacy Mr. Robinson has left behind. This movie was an excellent sports movie, an excellent drama, an excellent tribute to Jackie Robinson, and an excellent movie in general. Now, it isn't going to leave a legacy as Jackie Robinson did, or even as a classic movie. It just enhances Jackie Robinson's legacy which is what the movie was made for. The acting was extraordinary, especially Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman. I heard somewhere that Jackie wouldn't want to be commemorated and appreciated with all of this attention and praise. But I also heard every man truly worthy of respect will not need or ask for it. The movie shows a different side to this man, which I thought was good touch, because no one is perfect. But, nonetheless, Jackie Robinson was a great man and this movie still shows it. The movie had humor, drama, and some great life lessons. Some language with quite a bit of racial slurs. But other than that it is a great family movie that your whole family will enjoy, a great biography, and most of all a great tribute to the man who wore "42".
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.
