This movie is totally enjoyable; I did not want it to end and I want to see it again and again. The acting is superb. Colin Firth plays a bird in a gilded cage with great range and the perfect balance of anger, angst, bitterness, humanity, pathos, royal priggishness, deep feelings, and caring for his family and nation as the prince and then the king. The rest of the cast are all great. Pearce as King Edward plays a small but incredibly good part as the flamboyant and self centered character as the emotional foil to his younger brother. The whole as put together by director Hooper is a wonderful and beautiful thing to watch.
This is a beautiful movie and one I would recommend to take children to see. Any exposure to nature that is interesting, expands their view of the world as not just the domain of people, and informative is valuable. There is little more than the photography that is great about this film. There is not much new to learn. I was glad to see the references to evolution. Anything purporting to address nature needs to address that issue.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This film is beautiful, gripping from beginning to end, entertaining, and disturbing. One theme is heartbreak, loss, loneliness, and despair. The setting in the early 60s sharply draws the other theme of love and the realization that the issues of the public's disbelief in the "realness" of his feelings have not changed. Colin Firth's performance is superb. He shows depths of despair and loneliness with touches of humor and a general humanity. He faces the day and the people he meets with an outward normalcy and inner turmoil, well suited to his restrained style. The other actors, in particular Moore and Hoult, do a great job but it is Firth who makes this movie a must-see.
This is a great summer entertainment. I thought that the plot was going to be a rehash of the American girl making fun of the English elite, so it was a surprise to me that it was not that and was much better, mostly because of the father's character played by Colin Firth. The scenery is beautiful, the characters quirky, the story delightful. The weakest portrayal was unfortunately given by the star, Biel, but I even grew to like her.
I really enjoyed this movie. The experiences of the characters from the teenage Blake through the adult Blake and all the rest of the family were very real and very well acted.
