This movie exceeded my expectations - expectations based on general reviews and comments in the media. I feel it's one of the best movies of the year. Williams and Branagh are brilliant, funny and touching. Judi Dench is impeccable as always. Do not miss this trip back in time; it is a delight!
I'm not a big Ferrell fan; but paired with the perfect counterpoint Wahlberg (who was excellent, deadpan funny) there were several laugh-out-loud moments. Not a perfect movie by any means, but well worth admission for a couple of escapist hours.
I tried so hard to like this movie. I love Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd. So, as the story moved forward I kept hoping that after a very slow start something INTERESTING would happen.
The premise of the movie, the "dinner", doesn't occur until 3/4 of the movie is over. And by then you are asking yourself, "what is the point?". Steve Carrell was unfortunately just sad. His caricature of a "schmuck" was embarrassing to watch. The teeth. Are you kidding? Just not a smart movie.
This was one of the worst movies i have ever seen; such a disappointment. The script/dialogue was just laughable...all of that money, and this was the result!! BORING!!
I don't think most people got this movie. Seth Rogan is showing his dark side, and it's not what people were expecting. There are some laugh out loud scenes, and some poignant moments. I thought it was great. And kudos to Seth for broadening is palette.
