Tim Burton at his creative and weirded out best. A visual feast. A remarkable and effective cast. A nice detour from the original story. The younger children in the theatre grew a little restless, so my guess is at least 6. Some bothersome visuals, for tiny ones as well. The 3D was a nice touch, depth-giving without too many obvious 3D shots. Really liked it. Want to see it again. There was so much going on, I'm pretty sure I missed some really good stuff.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

EYE CANDY

If you stay for the end credits, you'll understand why this is such a beautifully produced movie. Cameron must have singlehandedly solved the unemployment problem in CA. It is utterly amazing in design and technology. I do have to say the story was very basic, the characters typically Cameronesque, translate uncomplicated. But it wasn't a bad story, and they weren't wholly uninteresting characters, so ... all-in-all, I don't resent the money I paid to see it. Go to be taken away to somewhere you've never been before, for the eye candy; and don't worry about being mentally challenged. Save that for another day.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
