Takes me back

This movie really took me back to some of those movies I really loved as a kid. It was reminiscent of movies like E.T., The Goonies, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Surprisingly, one of Super 8's greatest assets is the tremendous acting performances. Which I'd never expect with a cast this young. Elle Fanning was absolutely amazing.
Besides the acting this movie had great special effects, a solid and uncomplicated storyline, great character development, and plenty of heartfelt moments.
This movie is definitely a must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

More of the same old

I watched this movie hoping it was better than the original trilogy. Instead it was about the same as the originals. Good special effects and action scenes. But, very little character or story development, poor acting (with the exception of Fassbender who was excellent), and a total disregard for X-men canon.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A Fun Adventure

While there were plenty of off the wall plot lines that went no where and numerous underdeveloped characters, there was enough action, special effects, subtle humor and excitement that it really didn't seem to matter. I had my doubts about "On Stranger Tides". No Orlando or Kiera and I was REALLY skeptical of Penelope Cruz. I have never been a big fan of hers. However, she had great chemistry with Depp and was quite good in her role. The best performance though, I felt, fell to Ian McShane as the dreaded Blackbeard. He brought the most feared and renowned pirate of all time to life. From the moment he's first introduced it's like the pages of the history/story books have come to life.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
