Thoroughly disappointing...

My friends and I went to the midnight release, with hope in our hearts - it was dashed, cruelly. While the script remained quite close to the books, the acting was complete off-kilter. Rather than enjoying the sensation of falling in love, Bella looks close to tears for most of the movie. And rather than adoration sprinkled with moments of anguish, Edward appears angry, and confused with furrowed brow. Jacob was well-depicted, though not in the movie nearly enough - same with Charlie. Esme and Alice are both good, Rose is also. Carlisle and Jasper's hairstyles are so distracting, you almost miss the complete lack of acting. And Emmett comes off more as a doofus than anything. We had such high hopes, and were bitterly disappointed.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
