I'm not one for RomComs, but this one definitely tugged a little at my heartstrings. There were so many moments when I said, "I've been there!" and found myself ultimately impressed that someone made a movie as smart and home-hitting as this. All of the performances are impressive, especially Ginnifer Goodwin, who really carried the whole story along quite nicely. I'm very glad I spent $14 to see this movie.
I thought this movie was really creative. I loved how they put Bush's well-known sound bites into personal conversations, as sort of a wink to the audience. The script was intelligent and sometimes a little confusing. The back story of the Bush family, I found extremely interesting, and very well presented. Aside from Thandie Newton just doing an impersonation, the acting was all outstanding. Go, Josh Brolin! I didn't leave with anything except a nod to Oliver Stone for doing a good job, but I'm glad I saw it, and I don't need to see it again.
This movie was possibly the best "break up" movie to date. Another great addition to the Judd Apatow/Freaks and Geeks guys collection... It was smart, hilarious, uplifting, and extremely creative. I'd even tell my mom to see it.
