This movie is awesome! I have heard the comments about the special effects, but I found them refreshing and realistic. Largely, I feel as though I cannot stand the overuse of CGI. The special effects along withe manner in which it is filmed provide a realistic view of the special abilities the characters possess. The "footage" genre worked well with it as well. The action sequences were amazing. I was reminded of Akira in watching it. I will be seeing it again, and I recommend it others as well. AWESOME!!

Complete Suspension of Reality!!

I truly enjoyed this movie. I did not know what to expect in seeing it. The trailers were exciting, and the actors appealing. I decided to see it. The plot was very evident from the beginning, and not from the standpoint being spoonfed. It required paying attention. This I like.
The special effects and action sequences are on point. There was sufficient eye candy for all. The special effects did not surpass the acting. The transitions from depressed and despondent to hopeful and actualized was believable. Everyone wants to find there place in this world. This was a twist on that theme, as it takes on Galatic Savior proportions.
The only thing that prevents me from saying this is a 5, is the fact that the scripting is more in the camp of made for television movie, and then television series. In any event, I would see this movie again with friends, and I have recommended it to my friends. I saw someone compare it to the Syfy Channel genre of movie. I disagree. Syfy Channel only wishes they made something this cool. I am curious to read the book this based off of, and I am looking forward to a follow up movie, as I would be disappointed to have only seen this visually stunning movie, and not see or come know what happens to the main character.
I would liken this movie to a modern day Superman origin story, but better. The realism of awkward youth is present, the desire to fit in, not hide who one is, to connect with others....all present. In fact, having written all of that, I am changing my rating to a 5. See it.
