Emerged from the theatre with a broad smile on my face, samba music in my head and memories of adorably clever lines and amazingly beautiful sequences and situations... A THOROUGHLY DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE! Beautiful to watch and gets you all warm and fuzzy inside. The 3D effects were for once very effective and I feel like my passport now ought to have a Brazil stamp on it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Sensory Overload Challenge

Saw it in IMAX 3D and it whelmed and overwhelmed. The sound effects engineering is top notch and of course the visuals are splendid. Was immersed in another reality and bedazzled for the first seventy-five minutes but after a while felt it was sensory overload, the tale grew tedious and actually became an overdose of special effects action and lights--- It's a very dark movie and the lights against the darkness might be harmful to one's eyesight, I think. Came away from it glad I saw it but have no desire to submit to the experience again.
What a delightful little movie full of laughs, great dialogue, thought-provoking ironies and awkward situations, some misty-eyed moments, tragic truths, recognizable types of personality that we can have fun with or hate, characters we grow fond of and immediately care for. What a great story! Thoughts about the meaning of commitment and true love. "I DO" is a promise that endures. No matter the circumstances, the milieu, the context--- wherever you go, there you are---together. I emerged smiling. PS Alison Janney is a hoot in this.
