I"ve only walked-out on two movies in my life and this was the third. I left after the first hour and after trying very hard to like it. To say it was confusing is an understatement. I do not believe anyone truly understands this convoluted plot. The acting was mediocre, primarily because the CGI'S were the star. I'm sorry but I go to movies for a plot and character development and not all of the BS this movie showcased. Really boring and not entertaining. By all means skip-it.
A big disappointment ! Geared to the 14 to 25 year old males. Take away the special effects and the CGI BS and your left with a very mediocre flick. It's really a teen action flick in disguise. It's certainly not a mystery of any worth. Skip it and don't rent it.
I went to this flick not expecting much, almost by default since there wasn't much else of interest playing. I was very surprised and enjoyed it very much--one of the funniest comidies I"ve seen in some time and much better than than Judd Apatow's previous offerings ( Knocked Up. Superbad, The 40 Year Old Virgin etc. ) It was much more intelligently written, very funny, more mature--an excellent flick.
I would recommend this flick with reservations. Not for everyone but very interesting characters in a nearly non-existant plot. Your interest is held by anticipation of the outcome for the four principals. Excellent performances by all four. Dennis Quaid is solid and keeps the movie together, Ellen Page is superb, Thomas Church is excellent and I must say this is the first time I have seen Ms. Parker really act and she is fine. Not for the action fans but a pleasant, engaging and enjoyable dramatic comedy.
