TRON Legacy is a good way to pass time, it's entertaining, good special effects, lots of action. The plot picks up where the first movie, Tron, left off, but the plot is fuzzy, in some mystical way some beings that exist inside a computer can revolutionize humans on earth, never clear how. But hey, it's just an excuse to have fun anyway. Jeff Bridges does well, looking as he does and (with computer effects) looking several decades younger, and (apparently...) doing some athletic stuff, as does Bruce Boxleitner. Cindy Morgan is (sadly) missing, but we now have Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett for eye candy, and both look great. There's some vague father-son relationship stuff and some vague Zen stuff, all very vague, and poor Tron appears as a side topic. So, all in all, many excrutiatingly thin excuses to have another movie, the plot is weak, the relationships are okay, but it's a fun movie and enjoyable, so if you liked the first Tron movie, see it.
The actors act better and the movie conveys the hopeless situation convincingly. The special effects are certainly special but amidst them, the characters shine through. One can read into the situation symbolism of oppressive regimes current and past, if desired. Some parts are unsuitable for kids of 10-12-years and younger, as the rating implies.
Now we have to wait a year for the final installment.
