Maybe I was expecting too much. I've loved much of Aaron Sorkin's work, so I had high expectations. Therefore, I was pretty surprised to find that this film had practically no likable characters, a huge and troubling misogynistic streak, and an air of snobbishness that would make NY mayor Mike Bloomberg proud. The acting was okay--Jesse Eisenberg really inhabited his character, but is there really nothing redeeming about Mark Zuckerberg other than that he's a good programmer? See this if you're not sure which film should win the Oscar. It will convince you that The King's Speech deserves it, hands down.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I am not one of those people who is entranced by royalty, but this film was such a great character study of King George VI and made him and the queen so human that I really enjoyed it. Colin Firth was wonderful--both regal and vulnerable. His acting was so elegant. The rest of the cast was great as well, especially Geoffrey Rush. And it was great to see Claire Bloom again. See this. You will not be disappointed.
