I had been waiting eagerly to see this movie, so I ran out on opening night with great antication. I was sadly disapointed. The movie itself COULD have been funny and cute, but it missed the mark. The best portions of the movie were in the trailer. I was looking for Beetlejuice type fun, and while it had a few good scenes, the majority of the movie left me bored and waiting for the "good stuff" to happen. The make-up looked like something put on by a fifth grade haunted house. The acting (even Johnny Depp, whom I usually Love) was very lackluster. There is a pretty hot sex scene and some steamy sexual innuendo but the scene is so intense it makes me wonder how they pulled off a PG-13 Rating. I am not a prude, I don't mind curse words or sex scenes, but I don't think I would feel comfortable with a 13 year old seeing this. WOW! All in all, the movie just lacked fun. The last 10 minutes were the best part of the whole movie. There was supposed to be a great love story but you never figure out quite why these people would have devotion "til death" with one another. There are some fun 1970's jokes and a plethora of vampire jokes. The McDonalds joke is pretty funny, but it is over after one line and never brought up again. Johnny Depp is basically Edward Scissorhands in this movie by the way he moves, but the comic timing and hillarious banter is just not there. I was just SAD, and this movie is definately NOT worth $10 to see. Wait til it hits redbox, which won't be long, or better yet, wait til it's free on Netflix. Very disapointing!
