Strayed from the Original

The art in and the viewing of this movie is quite enjoyable. With that said i must critic it. It strayed quite a bit from the original Brothers Grimm tale in several aspects, and I acknowledge that there is authors liberty. However the Disney tale Tangled brings a larger amount of magic into the story then what is in the original, which for some would be offensive. The most obvious is the spell(charm) that is sung all through the movie. As used by the old lady it is selfish and used by Rapunzel for the good of her love Flynn Rider.
Going into this movie I did not expect the magic, yes it is a fairytale but it was still not what I was expecting. As in the original I was expecting really long hair but not magic hair.
Moving on from the magic the story of her being a princess is also not in the original in this tale the roles have been switched she is the princess and he is the commoner or even less a thief. In the original she was the commoner and he the prince though in some versions a dishonorable one(getting her pregnant while still in the tower). However I like Tangled’s version better on this subject.
At the beginning Rapunzel is kidnapped because of her healing hair in the original her parents traded her because of there wrong doing making them less honorable and the old lady or witch less evil so in this case Tangled shows a better evil vs good contrast but less normal humanity.
At the end of the movie her tears filled with the power of the charm/spell she sings heals Flynn from a deadly wound, however in the original at the end her tears heal his eyes which were blinded by thorns he was thrown in by the old lady.
Overall it was a good movie but I would like it better if they had kept more to the original.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
