A wonderfully acted and scripted film that tells a (largely) true human story. Both Firth and Rush deliver first rate performances, and the film captures brilliantly the tone of 1930s British society - people longing for human connection, but trapped in formality and duty. Firth's portrayal of HRH's speech defect causes in the audience at times great discomfort, other times great humour, but in the end a sense of triumph
