A few jokes that worked and some terrific animation, but overall this beast kinda lay there and attractged fleas. HArd to choose when makinga film, between comedy and tragic romance and this film endured the typical problems. The aliens were incredibly 2-dimmensiaonal while the monsters lacked much definition other than the main characetr. Having Steve COlbert do the Presidential thing is fine yet they kept shooting for really bad gags like making him climb a huge staircase with no handrails then let him play like an idiot on the keyboard. Zero laughs. A few groans but mostly, just... an immediately forgettable movie. Go rent "Bolt" if you want a 3D flick with something great behind the flash.
I picked up my first comic book when I was a child and it was Iron Man issue number 73. Not a real winner in retrospect but, a lot was going on that allkuded to thing IM had been dealing with over the previous months and I became instantly intrigued. The whole backstory of Tony Stark as alcoholic and genius as a man with a fragile body because of his heart yet a suit of armor more powefful than entire army... it is the very essense of a good story. Favreau did a superb job at integrating the necessary elements of a rock solid story that synchs a modern day real world scenario with the traditional comic hero and the final product is simply outstanding. Go see this flick! A comic book geek like myself or a neophyte like my girlfriend will both enjoy the ride. Well worth seeing in the theaetr as so few films are nowadays.
