Manipulative and phony filmmaking - just awful. If you like your slums in ravishing technicolor and lit with glamour lighting, you'll love it. If the director could hold his camera still for more than a second, we might actually be able to see and feel what's happening. Instead, he forces a totally inappropriate MTV style onto what could have been an interesting and touching story.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
