Some of the parts were slow because that is the progression of the story and helped set the mood. It is nice that they didn't dumb down the characters - especially the main ones. There was light humor in good places throughout in spite of the fact that the overall tone of the story is serious and tense. Their acting has significantly improved over the years. The scary and creepy parts were not overdone and gave just the right amount of gore without relying on that to carry the various scenes. Great effects and the changes were minor but served as good accents rather than detractions.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
