Exciting, but not amazing.

Reasonably well written. Expository dialogue and improbable one-liners were fairly frequent. Nevertheless, the endearing characters, incredible special FX and thrilling plot line made it work. The clear message of self-acceptance and tolerance was at times a little too self-conscious and over-bearing. Other than that it is a solid summer action flick worth watching a couple of times.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Excellent for what it is...

Visually stunning, faithful to the feel of the first film. The characters lack some depth and the plot if fairly predictable, but that contributes in some respects to this film. It's a film of the familiar told in a new way. A continuation of an adventure. With those expectations it will surely delight.
