I *really* wanted this movie to be good. I had heard so many great reviews. Sadly, I was disappointed.
I think the real story of the movie is a great and inspiring one, but poorly told as it is in this movie, it just falls flat.
Yes, there was too much Disney schmaltz, but I went in expecting that. I knew ahead of time that they focus more on the humans than the horse and horse racing. But I was still disappointed.
My main complaint is the poor storytelling. It's a movie about horse racing and it ended up having very little drama or suspense. Characters are only very vaguely sketched and there are way too many extraneous plot lines.
It felt like I was sitting in a corporate board room where Disney movie execs were *telling* us the movie they planned to make, rather than actually experiencing a story.
Such a shame because you can tell they actually had an *amazing* story to tell! :(
No, I do not recommend this movie.
