great story. great movie. greater horse.

This is a great movie and a great story presented exceptionally by Disney with excellent Oscar-worthy performances by excellent actors. Already knowing the story my excpectations were notably unrealistic but Disney covered the line and embellished appropriately. Lane, Malkovich, and Nelsan Ellis may all be in the Oscar mix. My only reason for a less-than-5-star grade is that while I completely loved the authentic horse-racing-on-track-closeup-thunderous action, I was left wanting that mix of Disney filming of the Belmont to coincide from gate-to-finish with the original never-to-be-duplicated-dominating-athletic-performance that was Secretariat's 1973 race. To this day I can't watch the race without crying and consider It the greatest single sporting event of my generation. Disney missed the mark in passing that feel of the dominance of Secretariat on that day in that race. I do hope we begin to see and hear more of this remarkable animal as that legacy should never die. Love the movie. Love the horse beyond measure. He was God's horse.
