When I heard that a Secretariat movie was being done by Disney, I'll admit that I was a little bit worried. This is the same company that got so much flak over the mis-telling of the Hercules myths and the gross misrepresentation of Pocahontas. However, after seeing movies like Miracle, ones with real news footage behind them and very little room for error, I was hopeful. Boy did Disney deliver! The rivalries, the characters, the charisma of the whole thing was amazing. They even did something very hard to explain to anyone who doesn't own a thoroughbred, they captured the REAL thoroughbred. Though I found the character of Penny a little oddly acted (are we tough as nails or afraid of the world?), the whole thing did come through very nicely. I recommended it to my parents, my husband and will recommend it to anyone else who asks. Good job, Disney. My faith is restored!
