I took my 7 year old daughter and her friend to see this movie. It definately has the "Tim Burton" spin on it, and follows the outline of the original Alice In Wonderland theme but is much more current and on the dark side. I would advise those taking children under 9 to see it in 2D as opposed to 3D the first time. It could be scary to view it for the first time in 3D to kids. They both agreed that it was much better to see it in 2D so they are familiar with the movie, and both wanted to see it in 3D next time. The characters are riveting and the scenery without the 3D is just as vivid.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
