Many reviewers seem to miss what is for me the most important theme of the movie, which is learning to overcome anxiety and depression. This point is much clearer in the book than the movie. Liz had been in therapy and on medication for years (which they fail to mention in the movie) and was still miserable. She went on her quest to learn to still her negative thinking and be happy again. Once she learned that, in Italy and India, then she was ready to love in a healthy way, in Bali. The movie would have been much better if they had used more voiceovers, of what was actually going on in Liz's head, to show some of the self-dialogue from the book. Overall, a good job translating to screen a complicated journey
Yes, I recommend this movie.
