Remember the 80's? When movies didn't need complex storylines or whiny emo drama? When all you needed was a gun, a few one liners, and a main character who has biceps the size of cantolopes? Well, Stallone's lastest film, The Expendables, certainly does. This film is truly an old school action homage that doesn't pull any punches, gathering together action legends past and present to remind us why the 80's rocked. It isn't afraid to wear it's influences on it's sleeve, and it never takes itself all too seriously, it delivers satisfying and somewhat gritty action that never gets too grim or realistic to spoil the entertainment. If you're expecting a moral driven war story, look somewhere else. But if you want an quick fix of nostalgic fun, look no further then The Expendables.
