They rushed the movie version and miscast Liz with Julia Roberts. Soo not like Liz Gilberts persona in the book. I could see a young Meg Ryan or Goldie Hawn or Diane Keaton in the role, you get the type I mean. Even Reese Witherspoon today would have been better. If you didn't read the book, this movie would make no sense to you. It failed to capture the essence of Liz's personality and her quest for God and love. The only actors that fit were Ketut and Felipe, the gorgeous Brazilian boyfriend. I want to see more of him. The plot was disjoint and I think more narration by Liz was necessary to tap into her thoughts. Sorry, thumbs down but love the book and will read it again!
No, I do not recommend this movie.
