A RE-VIEWING is precisely what this writer needs in order to make complete sense (or not) of this movie. Like a number of blockbusters to hit the theaters this year (Avatar, Surrogates), the principal players are held in immobile stasis for much of the movie and the bulk of the action takes in another dimension (here the world of dreams, which participants can inhabit together, owing to chemicals administered intraveinously). The plot device allows multiple levels of narrative to play out simultaneously--with truly spectacular consequences. The camera work, film editing, and visual effects--in combination with the predominately visual character of our own dream world --make this film a gripping visual feast, well-suited (with its booming sound track) for the IMAX theater. Don't "wait" to see this one on DVD.
