Not a bad sequel

Pretty good movie! Kids liked it. I wish there had been some mention of what happended to Doc Hudson or at least a dedication to Paul Newman (he was a huge racing fan and driver himself).
Next time you use songs, use the original rexording artist (like the group CARS for 'All I want is you"), et al. I did expect Sheryl Crow to provide another song, but Brad Paisley is the BEST there is and was glad to hear him contribute again.
Kids want to know when Cars 3 is coming out. Hint! Hint! Hint! ;)
Yes, I recommend this movie.

X-men first class needs to study

While some of the elements were right, the story line needs work. Note to the writers: Study the material before witing the story.
The relationship between Xavier and Lensheer was developed somewhat, but as with all characters in this film, there was no development. Just a lot of crash, bang, boom. No one could care about the characters or why they did things. It was as if they were second to the CGI and special effects as used as cardboard cut-outs.
You had better study and talk to Stan Lee before your next one (and make sure it isn't 3D!). Stan, spank these kids before they destroy a good quality comic.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Salt - needed some pepper

This was really a popcorn movie. Filled with thrills, chills, and a few twists. This movie was a lot more like a female Bond than anything else. It was toned down for the PG-13. I would have preferred it Rated R and brought up a notch, expecially the North Korean prison scenes (very rated G in how prisoners are treated and clothed) and suspense in story telling. Ms/Mrs Joie has the chops, but not much opportunity to show it since 'Changeling'.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Predators light

Predators was a rehash of the original without the originality, talent, character development, or strory. The writers just took he same story elements and changed the group from a team to a gang of punks. There was mini-gun guy, the girl and of course the Predator himself. This is something that belongs in a comic book series or graphic novel from Dark Horse, not on a movie screen.
The story needed to be flushed out more. They needed a decent cast with some acting chops (only saving grace was Mr. Fishburne who is wasted here), and there should have something added to the mythos. Out of the $7 I paid, this was worth maybe $3. (I also take off for the stupid commercials the theatre seems to put on). If I wanted to watch commercials, I'd buy a TV.
I would rather have seem Arnold Schwartzenegger and Danny Glover team up for a sequel that this group of morons

good, but needs help

Movie was alright and definately a popcorn movie. Needs help in a few areas - character development and credibility. There is no buy-in on the characters and you don't care for them. Rhodes is treated as a NPC (non-person character) as is most of the characters. The writers need to dump the PC attitude and stick to the core material. Sam[uel] L. Jackson is worthless as Nick Fury. He's a fine actor, but wastec here. Also Nick Fury has always been white, n because of the character's background. Changing the skin color to appease some knuclehead destroys the credibility of the character and many true fans see it as comic relief.
Movie was good, but could have been much better if the production crew would learn to stick to the source material and shy away from political decisions.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Whiteout

Whiteout started out pretty well, like 'John Carpenter's The Thing'. to see the remoteness of the South Pole. Seeing Kate Beckinsale is always a treat for me, so I enjoyed her role to some extent. Watching her intereact with Tom Skerrit was when her paired with Sigourney weaver in 'Alien' (good chemistry between the two). I would have liked to see more of a backstory to Tom Skerrit's character and a little more intrigue (like a link between the bad guy and the drug dealer in Miami) or even some guessing of the bad guy until the last frame.
I do wonder what ended up on the cutting room floor. It usually is good parts of the story that time limits.
Will put this on my rental list.
