My daughter and I went to see this expecting something rather silly. Wow, were we shocked to find a really good movie! When we saw the trailers featuring an Aryan James Bond, Indiana Jones/Han Solo/President, cowboys, Indians, space aliens, no smut and an "underdog movie" to boot, we knew it was going to be something special, or ludicrously hilarious. We were pleasantly surprised to find a move with a real storyline, where bad guys turn good, aliens get whipped, and everything turns out well for a dying small town. Reading back through this, it looks rather cliché, but this is a movie worth the visit.
This movie starts out rather formulaic; overbearing jock, out of touch with the real world, etc. Halfway through, he realizes that life without dreams is just going through the motions. The best thing I (and my 9-yr-old daughter) came away with is that life is much better with a little "What if...?" mixed in.
