Not great for the under 4 crowd

Way too much human only scenes to hold the attention of younger children. Most of the 3D action is too fast to enjoy the effect. Lost opportunity to do something really great. Animal CGI is great, get rid of the humans.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Best comic book movie to date!

Masterful directing, dark, and emotional. Despite (or in spite of) all the hype, Heath steals the show with an amazing Joker but the rest of the cast puts in great performances along the way. More people less technology also draws you into the fray. Much darker than other Batman movies, and much longer. They could have taken about 10 minutes out of the end but overall a great movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
