As a spoof writer, I must say that Twilight continues to give me good material to work from. I will say this in its favor - the movies seem to be getting better with each one, and the wolves were very well done. It proved educational as well - I never knew that vampires were made of ice crystals. It made it quite humorous when Victoria's head was broken off and there were ice crystals that looked like giant rock candy protruding from her neck. (Doesn't this contradict what they say about newborn vampires, that they still have all their human blood running through their veins? There were no veins or anything of the sort showing when the vampires' limbs were flying off left and right.) Another thing I learned - if your father tries to give you a sex talk, it is a great idea to run off to your boyfriend and try to convince him to have sex. Naturally, your boyfriend will say no to protect your honor. (I thought they tried to make the scene too 'steamy' for the movie, which young kids are watching.) Of course, I did laugh when Edward told Bella to stop trying to take off her clothes. I have never had anyone say that to me. ;)
Another review said that there were still talking scenes that could have been shorter. I got a little antsy when they were too drawn out.
What bothers me the most, I think, is that every myth, every legend is totally thrown out the window for the sake of a teenage love story.
Keep this in mind - I have read the books and CAN appreciate them for what they are. I just think the obsession has gotten ridiculous, which is what leads me to poke fun. I would love to direct you to our spoof movie that is coming out soon, but I don't know if it is allowed. All I will say is that it may or may not be on the popular watch-people's-silly-videos website, and it may or may not be called Skylight... ;) It is also extremely obvious that we are not professionals. ;)
No, I do not recommend this movie.
