I blame Dustin Lance Black for the narrative of the film. It starts at the end so you know the eventual outcome in the first few minutes of the film. I knew to keep myself at bay because having been alerted to the tragic outcome. There is no trace of Sean Penn in this film. The emotions that run across his face when he learns the outcome of his fight against California Prop 6 brought tears to my eyes. I would have preferred that the film were a bit longer and would have gone into the events after the end of the film. I believe that this is perfectly timed to show California how they dropped the ball with Prop 8 and will take many friends to see this.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
