Ledger Alone Shines

Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight was disturbing, creepy, unsettling, and strangely hilarious at times. Ledger positively shined.
However, apart from Ledger's performance, there isn't much to recommend The Dark Knight. The plot is muddled and the pacing uneven. One wonders if there was any editing done at all to this exceedingly long film. On the issue of editing, I almost believe there was a good hour and forty five minute or two hour film hiding inside the labored two and a half hours.
I went to see The Dark Knight with my spouse and four of our friends. Not one of us felt there was anything in the movie worth the price of the ticket except for Ledger.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
