Our family went to see True Grit on Christmas. We are all Coen brothers fans, and thought this would be a no-lose option. We were all really disappointed. There's nothing to really get you interested or caring about the characters, and the acting (other than Hailee Steinfeld) is so-so. You are always aware that you're watching Jeff Bridges acting as Rooster Cogburn, and his dialogue is frequently mumbled and lost. Josh Brolin is a not believeable, and Matt Damon's character is never developed. The story is uninteresting and goes nowhere. I wouldn't want to see this movie again, even on TV. Dull.
We are HUGE Mike Myer fans, so we were HUGELY disappointed in The Love Guru. It was just painful to sit through, and we laughed only one or two times. Do not waste your money on this movie.
Pixar has replaced Disney as the best creator of children's films. (Disney has SO overmarketed/diluted itself.) Wall-e is a creative story that is well-animated. It wasn't as funny or overall entertaining as Nemo or either of the Toy Story movies, but it was worth seeing. My daughter and her friend (age 10) both enjoyed it as well.
