This movie probably had the best acting of any Predator or Alien movie I have seen. Characters were well done and the action was good. There could have been a little more story concerning how and why each person was chosen to be on the planet. Also, the ending, which could very easily set up a sequel, left something to be desired. Still a good movie. The sword fight near the end was one of my favorite scenes.
I haven't played the Prince of Persia games much, but I do know the storyline behind them fairly well. This movie did a good job of taking that story and creating an enjoyable movie in that universe along the same lines. It moved a little slowly or awkwardly in a few places, but not really to the detriment of the film. The action scenes gave a great feel for the acrobatic skill that the prince is supposed to have. Effects for the Dagger of Time were very cool. And of course, Gemma Arterton was looking her beautiful self on screen.
Great Movie! I have grown up with these characters and this movie was a wonderful way to bring closure to their story. It seems Pixar is about the only studio in Hollywood that knows how to do a proper sequel. My only reservation is that I thought maybe this movie was a little darker than the other two, perhaps enough to be a little scary for small children. But apparently my 5 year old cousin loved every minute of it, so I could be wrong! Go see this movie whether you've seen the first two or not!
I was excited for the movie but it was not only disappointing, it was a terrible excuse for a film. To explain, let's start with casting. Not only were all of the actors pretty awful, none of them besides the guy who played Sokka really came close to fitting the description of the original characters. And speaking of characters. They weren't developed. At all. The movie relied completely on the fact that most people have watched the show and know the characters and thus didn't bother to do anything that let the audience get to know the people in the story. And speaking of the story. I know it's difficult to cut an entire season of episodes that had a lot of extraneous information down to a single movie, but this movie was more like a string a scenes put next to each other rather than a flowing plot. We just hopped around to different places and saw different things rather than watch a tale unfold. The movie probably needed to be about as twice as long as it was for this job to be done properly. Nothing wrong with a longer movie, people would still watch it. Finally, more annoying than anything, several major characters' names were pronounced differently. It was very grating. I hope they don't let Mr. Shyamalan do any more.
