The film over all was so good! It used what was necessary, edited what didn't need to be there and expanded on stuff you didn't realize you wanted to see. The fight scene was the best addition to the story. Plus the director really paid attention to the details and made sure the audience was as aware as he was meticulous. David Slade is now officially on my list of directors I'm going to watch. He balances perfectly the audience's desire to stay true to the book and focus on the Edward, Bella, Jacob story line, while adding action and keeping audience members hooked. The pacing is perfect, the picture is beautiful and the music was just right to complete the film.
If there hadn't been a couple...technical issues, it would be the perfect movie. Someone was very airbrush happy especially in the snow scenes. It was a bit distracting, but I did see the film in IMAX. The clarity was amazing but it really did show EVERYTHING...like the airbrush filter that made Jacob's skin look too baby soft smooth as if he was apart of some dream state. It was distracting. And finally the hair pieces. Sometime I think extensions work so much better than a complete wig. Sorry Bella, Rosalie and Alice, it just got a little obvious and therefore distracting.
Otherwise, the film was a lot of fun and exactly what it needed to be. The special effects were stunning. If you love the book, you'll love the movie. If you like Romance with a little action, you'll love the movie. If you are a heterosexual male who hates cheesy drama...don't watch it unless you're willing to give up your man cars, or you want bonus points with your lady. Just don't make fun of it when she clearly loves it, because then you won't get any bonus points and you'll have sat through 2 hours of unenjoyableness for yourself, and that's just silly!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
