Promised ourselves never to see another Woody Allen film about 10+ years ago. He is so very self-indulgent and repetitive. However, a chilly, rainy Saturday in June (and a host of positive friend reviews) lured us back. Must say we enjoyed its warmth of nostalgia and softly colored views of Paris. No great depths of insight or humor but a very enjoyable treat, especially since we didn't have to watch Woody playing himself with his 'of the moment' sexy female leads. Now we don't have to see another one of his films for at least 10+ years, should he be foolish enough not to quit while he is ahead.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Love watching Jeff Bridges do just about anything, this movie included. However imagining this character's connection with Maggie Gyllenhaal just broke the spell for me, made no sense. Aside from the age difference, what was his appeal? She clearly had no problem finding a 'really good guy' once she walked away....so why would she want to cling to that well-acted sweaty, smokey alcoholic to begin with? More development with the Colin Farrell character story line would have made more sense to me. Reasonably worth it for the music and acting.
