I think that's the word that best describes this movie.....everything about it, from the grotesquely opulent Stanford-Anthony wedding, to the attempt at dramatic storylines (Marriage is sometimes boring, bosses can be difficult, having kids is hard and menopause happens...honestly?) to the beyond indulgent trip to Abu Dhabi. The clothes were even more over the top than usual and completely unrealistic (Charlotte bakes cupcakes in vintage couture and Carrie is obnoxiously "costumed") . More importantly, it's clear that the only need for this movie has less to do with finishing a story and more to do with the studio/producers/stars making money.
All that said, however.....for devotees of the series, it must be watched....like a train wreck, but funnier and with less carnage. If you bring your girlfriends, your cosmos and no expectations for anything of substance, it's worth the price of admission. Although, and I am sure the ladies would agree, good friends and cocktails make anything bearable.
